The Vice President of Internal Affairs' job is to be make sure that Newman continues to function as an organization. Mary does this by concerting efforts to maintain Newman.

 An example of the tasks that Mary oversees is the office hours that each member of council performs in service to Newman (whether that is cleaning the building or manning an office).
