Bettie Lesczynski, Director

Bettie hails from San Antonio, Texas, and has lived here in Kirksville for 20 years. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio with a B.A. in liberal studies, then received an M.A. in Special Education from California Polytechnic State University. Bettie taught elementary and special education until 1985, when she started working here at Newman as a secretary. She then became associate campus minister in 1990 and director in 1996. That same year she received a Master's degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University. Aside from her duties at Newman, which include overseeing business and finances and Newman Council, Bettie has three children: one in grad school and in two in college. She also enjoys baking (especially her famous "Bettie Brownies") and walking around campus. She is available to any students who need to talk, pray, or find spiritual direction.
